Artlist just released their xAI image and video tools which I had a chance to play around with.
I came up with an idea for a fun video commercial of a theme park with real dinosaurs. Similar to Jurassic Park but a lot more kid friendly where the genetically modified dinosaurs are always friendly. Everything is adorned with vibrant colors and everyone is happy. Like Disneyworld!

First I had to come up with the script. Then a shot list. Once I had those I went on over to Artlist.io to create the images of each shot. Once you have created the images you like you simply click the animate button and bring your photos to life. You can do 720p or 1080p resolutions and in two lengths of 5 or 10 second videos. Artlist also makes it super easy to help you embellish your text prompts to get better results with the enhance button.
I also used Artlist to create the narrator in my fake tv commercial. Artlist already had this tool for quite some time and I used it before to create voice overs in various videos like my Jesus Portrait project.
So what do I think of the overall process and final results? It works great as a way to create stock footage for your project. If you are missing some shots then you can easily create photorealistic or very stylized shots. Combine that with Artlist’s already extensive music library (which I also used in this video), sound effects and stock footage, I think that the AI tools make it the perfect place to get all your audio and video assets.
Now if you wanted to create a complete film or narrative story that’s when you will run into problems. Not because their AI tools can’t deliver amazing quality videos but because there is no fine control over camera and character movements and also there is no character or location consistency. Each time you generate the shots the results are varied. You can’t have the same actor or location exactly as in the previous shot so they match. Hence why I create a spec TV commercial that’s a collection of random stock footage.

After talking to the guys at Artlist they did say that new features will be added to their AI tools. Some of those will address the limitations I mentioned. So I am excited to wait and see how they improve over time. I already have used Artlist.io as my go to place for all music and sound effects and now their new AI Video tools give me more options.
