My new Indie Audio Kit | Auray Boom Pole & DigitalFoto Micolive Mic Blimp

Here is my current audio recording setup for location film shoots. The whole kit consists of a shotgun mic, a shock mount with a windshield and a boom pole to which I also attach my portable audio recorder.

I have previously done a post similar to this where I showed my kit which consisted mostly of the Rode audio gear. You can see that post HERE. What’s changed in my new kit is mainly the new boom pole I have been using. Also I started using this new windshield from DigitalFoto. I didn’t change out the windshield because my older Rode wasn’t any good, but more because of a slight accident that burned the hair on my deadcat. This produces a bit more noticeable wind noise. I would normally just go out and buy a replacement from Rode but since DigitalFoto sent me their new kit which looks pretty much identical to the Rode windscreen yet it’s priced a lot cheaper I decided to just use this.

Please watch this video for full breakdown of my current audio kit.

  1. Hi Tom, I wonder why you never talk about the Rode NTG3, wich is far more sensible than the NTG4/4+ and a very low self noise.
