Fosicam makes exciting entry in the 3-axis camera gimbal world

Today I have another camera gimbal review, but I’m happy to say it’s not just another gimbal. A company called Fosicam, a newcomer in the market, has created a pistol-grip gimbal that improves, I think, on what other companies have done so far.

There are two features of this Fosicam gimbal that I really appreciate. The first one is that it has a slanted pitch motor, which means that the LCD on the back of the camera is not obstructed by the gimbal (as is usually the case).

The second very nice feature is a mode that offers roll follow, in addition to the standard pan and tilt follow. It’s the first gimbal that I’ve come across that has this feature.

But for a full review, please see my video

So, I think there are a lot of reasons to like this camera gimbal. It also helps that the prices is very reasonable.

You can get the Fosicam FM1-45 3-axis camera gimbal on B&H, eBay, Amazon and the company’s website.

This 3-axis gimbal works with DSLM and small DSLRs, providing you don’t use a big zoom lens. Here are some of the popular cameras that are the right size and weight for this gimbal: Sony a6500 and a6300; Panasonic GH5, GH4, G85, G7.

  1. Would this work with the Samsung NX1. It comes it at around 3.25 pounds with a wide angle lens, with half the weight being in the camera body and half in the lens.
