For a long time I have searched for an affordable way to smoothly fly large cinema cameras. I also wanted something that isn’t too big to pack up and carry to a film shoot and that’s easy to setup. I have tried various low cost steadicams and gimbals but nothing would produce a smooth shot. Thanks to the fast advancing technology I have finally found the answer!

My whole setup is built around the amazing new CRANE 3S gimbal from Zhiyun-Tech.

Of course just putting a big and heavy camera on a gimbal that can handle all that weight is not the end of this setup. Next problem is how a camera operator can walk around carrying all that weight for long periods of time. Not only does it have to be easy to carry but also easy to operate the position of the camera and also the focus. I achieve that by mounting the Crane 3S gimbal on the DigitalFoto MAGIC ring which is then attached to the DigitalFoto EasyRig.

To pull the focus I am using the CAME-TV Astral wireless follow focus which allows the camera operator to pull focus but can also be detached from the ring so the camera assistant can do it remotely.
