If you know of Insta-360 and their 360 degree cameras then this newly announced drone will already feel familiar.
That is because Antigravity is an extension of the company as they enter the drone market. The first product they announced a few days ago is the Antigravity A1. It shoots 8K 360 degree video. Looking at the demo videos you will see it has two cameras. One on top of the drone and the other on the bottom. The video or photos are then stitched from these two cameras to create a seamless image that eliminates the drone props from the video.
This new way of thinking about drones allows you to simply fly the drone like an FPV drone and later in post you can reframe your shots from the 360-degree video that is captured. In fact the Antigravity A1 is like an FPV drone that will also allow the capture of more creative videos. In many ways it is very similar to the DJI Avata 2 FPV Drone. It also comes with headset goggles and an almost identical controller. This is great because it allows the pilot to look around with their headset and in real time the view updates. Also, doesn’t matter where you are looking while flying the drone it doesn’t mean that is what your final video will be since you can always reframe it in post.
