DJI expands its user friendly offerings with a fun new entry into the world of drone piloting.
The Neo is the most compact and lightweight drone in DJI’s fleet, and while aimed at newer pilots, it showcases the professional quality and feature set that DJI is known for. The Neo is available as a standalone flyer or as part of the Fly More Combo. A full complement of accessories are also available.
From family photos to social media, the Neo is an excellent choice for capturing aerial videos and stills. This is because the size and weight (only 4.8 oz) allow the Neo to be deployed anywhere. It’s so compact that it can take off and land from the palm of your hand. When in the air, the ½” sensor is capable of snaping 12MP still images and videos at 4K30 resolution.
DJI equipped the Neo with RockSteady and Horizon Balancing technologies to compensate for its small size in addition to Level 4 wind resistance. Both features work to reduce image shake and correct the horizon tilt within +/-45 degrees. The ultra-stabilized footage is further enhanced with shooting features you would typically expect to find on more expensive models.
Smart Tracking and DirectionTrack utilize AI-based algorithms to allow the Neo to perform basic tracking shots from behind or in front of a subject. The inclusion of QuickShots elevates simple tracking with more complex aerial maneuvers. In each, the Neo centers the target in frame as it automatically flies pre-programmed flight paths. Pilots can choose from six modes: Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang.
Control of the Neo includes traditional options, such as the DJI Fly app on your mobile phone, or an optional RC-N3, RC Motion 3, or FPV Remote Controller 3. The last option, voice control, is a first for DJI. Just say “Hey Fly” to wake up the Neo and then use a series of voice commands through the DJI Fly app to control the drone.
As the Neo is a smaller drone aimed at newcomers, DJI has taken extra steps to ensure everything and everyone is safe while new users hone their skills. The four spinning propellers are completely shielded with propeller guards; on top of that, the drone features Level 4 wind resistance and an automatic return to home function that helps retrieve the drone when needed.
With the release of the Neo, anyone who may have been intimidated by drones in the past now has an extremely accessible and easy-to-use option from one of the most trusted and venerable brands in the category.
Choose the standard DJI Neo or Neo Fly More Combo, which provides two additional batteries, a two-way charging hub, and RC-N3 remote. A host of individual accessories are also available, including an intelligent flight battery, two-way charging hub, RC-N3 remote, propellers, and propeller guards.
