“Set Me On Fire” new music video I directed for Anna Cyzon

Today is the official premiere of a music video I shot, directed and edited for Anna Cyzon titled “Set Me On Fire”.

I shot this music video mainly on the Panasonic GH4 over the course of 2 days in Playas, Ecuador. Used all natural light and reflectors to achieve the look.

The only stuff that wasn’t shot on the GH4 and that didn’t use natural light is the love scene where Anna and the male model are together in bed. That was shot in the evening over 4 hours using the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4.6K camera and only 1 light.

The Apurture Lightstorm 120D with the Light Dome Mini diffusion on it. As far as the lenses I used mostly the Xeen Cine Kit lenses with 3 focal lengths in it of 24mm, 50mm and 85mm. I also used the Lumix Vario G 12-35mm f2.8 lens and the 35-100mm f2.8.

Hope you enjoy the look of this music video. Let me know if you have any more questions about it etc.

Below are screen grabs from the video for your enjoyment.

  1. This looks great! Shows just how capable the GH4 still is in the right hands. Did you shoot the GH4 segments in Vlog-l? Why did you choose to shoot the bulk of the music video with the GH4 and not just shoot the whole thing with the Ursa Mini Pro – what specific look were you going for?

    1. I wish I had a more elaborate answer but the truth is that I shot it mostly on the GH4 not because I wanted to but because it was the only camera I had on me when in the spur of the moment we decided to shoot this music video. This is a super low budget production. In fact there was no budget. I was on vacation with family and friends and Anna was with us in the group. She played the new song she was working on and I said “Hey let’s shoot something while we are here in Ecuador”. We thought it would be more of a test but then we liked the shots so much we wanted to actually edit it into a finished video. There was no idea or concept. There was nobody helping us out. It was mostly just me and Anna running around the little beach town and getting shots. Only later once we were back home did we decide that the video needed something else. We filmed the whole love scene and that’s why that part I shot on the URSA Mini 4.6k. If I could have I probably would have shot the whole video on that camera. But in the end for a simple project like this was I am still very happy with the quality that we pulled out of the now very old and beat up GH4.
