Azden SGM 250CX mic review

On-camera mic that doubles as boom mic: Azden SGM 250CX

If you are looking for a good on-camera microphone, Azden has a new option, the SGM-250CX Professional Compact Cine Mic. What sets this mic apart are some pro features, like a full-size XLR plug and Phantom power. But here is my full review.

So, again, I really like that the Azden SGM-250CX has the XLR connection, Phantom power, and that you can easily remove the shock mount. It attaches to the top of the camera via the standard hot/cold shoe, or you can attach it to a boom.

You can buy the Azden SGM-250CX Pro Compact Cine microphone on B&H, Adorama, eBay, Amazon, Amazon UK

  1. Hi Tom. When mounted on a camera (FZ2500) shoe mount, Is there a way it can swivel downward to more accurately aim at the talents mouth if the camera is in a fixed position?
    Thank you,

    1. Unfortunately this cold shoe mount doesn’t swivel but you can always attach it to a ball mount thanks to the 1/4 20 thread on the bottom. This way you can adjust the angle of the mice in any directions.
